Day Trip Alert: Captain Your Own Speedboat on a CatBoat Adventure in Mount Dora!

Are you looking for an unforgettable adventure beyond the theme parks during your stay at the Villas at Somerset? Just under an hour away, the charming, historic town of Mount Dora offers a unique experience that perfectly blends high-speed thrills with Florida's stunning natural beauty: CatBoat Adventure Tours.

Forget crowded pontoon boats. On this tour, you are the captain!

What is a CatBoat Adventure?

Imagine sitting side-by-side with a friend or family member in a small, spunky two-person catamaran. These "CatBoats" are incredibly stable, easy to drive, and surprisingly fast.

Your guided tour starts at the Mount Dora Marina. Once you're out of the no-wake zone, you'll throttle up and zip across the expansive waters of Lake Dora. It's an exhilarating ride with the wind in your hair!

The highlight for many is slowing down to enter the famous Dora Canal. Known as "the most beautiful mile of waterway in the world," this narrow, winding passage connects Lake Dora to Lake Eustis. As you glide under a canopy of towering cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, you'll feel like you've traveled back in time. Your guide will lead the pack and share fascinating history and fun facts over a walkie-talkie in your boat.

Keep your camera ready! It's very common to see bald eagles, herons, egrets, turtles sunning on logs, and yes—often an alligator or two!
